SOUTH JORDAN — Applications are now being taken for the city’s 2019-20 Youth Council, which teaches local youth about municipal government and provides opportunities for community service.

To be considered for the council, students must be enrolled in ninth, 10th, 11th or 12th grades, be a resident of the city and have an interest in learning how government works.

Members of the council should expect to spend approximately six to seven hours each month at council meetings and service projects. They are also expected to attend two South Jordan City Council meetings and participate in monthly service projects.

Youth Council meets on Thursdays twice a month, typically at 7 p.m., at the South Jordan Community Center, 10788 S. Redwood Road. Monthly meetings will start when school begins and will follow the 2019-20 academic calendar.

Applications can be found on the city’s website at sjc.utah.gov. The submission deadline is Friday, March, 15.
