Westminster's men's basketball team defeated MSU Denver to complete a sweep of its competition. The Griffins scored 37 points in both halves to defeat the Roadrunners, 74-69.

It was raining threes during the first half. MSU Denver scored 6-of-9 from beyond the arc, while the Griffins went 5-of-10. Westminster made 57.1 percent of its field goals and finished the half with a six-point lead, 37-31.

The Griffins led twice by 10, their largest lead of the game, in the second half. The Roadrunners came within one in the final minute after Druce Asah hit his three and Jaryn Taylor made a pair of free throws. Jake Connor hit a three and went 4-for-4 from the charity stripe to keep Westminster in the lead for the win.

The Griffins made 31-of-56 from the field, 7-of-15 from beyond the arc and 5-of-7 from the free-throw line.

Five Griffins scored in double digits. Jai Jai Ely led with 15 points. Joonas Tahvanainen scored 14 points and was perfect from the field making 7-of-7 from the field and 2-of-2 from the stripe. Connor scored 12, and Jacob McCord and Brandon Warr each had 10.

Alec Monson led the Griffins with eight defensive rebounds. Warr and Tahvanainen each pulled down four boards, and Ely and McCord each grabbed three.

The Griffins are on the road at Regis on Friday and at Colorado Christian on Saturday.
