The shutdown of the government because of Trump’s demand for money to build his wall is just wrong.

The Constitution gives the power of the purse to the legislative branch and not the executive branch. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell won’t allow a vote and seems to be trying to change the Constitution by giving away the powers of the legislature to the executive branch.

He says he won’t allow a vote on any bill that Trump won’t sign, but that isn’t necessary because the Congress can override his veto. Our senators need to call for a vote and reopen the government. We certainly didn’t elect them to sit on the sidelines while the government is shut down.

This inaction will be remembered on Election Day 2020.
