HERRIMAN — Youth between the ages of 14 and 18 are invited learn what it takes to be a police officer during the police department’s youth academy.

The eight-week course will give youth hands-on virtual firearm training, tour the city’s forensics lab, talk with specialized detectives and get an up-close demonstration from the SWAT team.

The classes will be held on Tuesdays, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Jan. 29 through March 19.

Space is limited and registration will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
