CLEARFIELD — After 33 years of service to the city, Police Chief Greg Krusi retired Wednesday and Assistant Chief Kelly Bennett took over the department.
“Chief Krusi has given 33 years of his life to the Clearfield community for which we are forever in his debt,” City Manager JJ Allen said in a statement.Comment on this story
“We appreciate his steady leadership to our department and the way he has been able to mentor many young officers through the years. He has been an integral member of the city’s leadership team and his successor will have big shoes to fill.”
Krusi began his police career in 1985 as a reserve officer and was appointed chief in 2010.
In the early 1990s, Krusi spent five years as part of the Davis County Metro Narcotics Strike Force. After becoming the supervisor for the strike force Krusi held every leadership position within the department: corporal, sergeant, detective sergeant, lieutenant, assistant chief and chief.
