SAN DIEGO — Utah coach Kyle Whittingham said things are “going great” for the Utes as they prepare to face Northwestern in the Holiday Bowl on Monday. The team has practiced twice in San Diego since meeting here the day after Christmas.
“So far, so good. No complaints and the bowl is treating us great,” said Whittingham, who also noted the weather has been a plus.Comment on this story
As for word on quarterback Tyler Huntley’s situation, Whittingham said he would prefer to keep things “on the down low” for now. Huntley, who hasn’t played since breaking his collarbone in the Nov. 3 loss at Arizona State, has been awaiting medical clearance to play in the Holiday Bowl.
The Utes have an increasing number of bowl activities over the next couple of days. After practice Friday, they’re scheduled to tour the U.S.S. Midway. On Saturday, the team will visit the San Diego Zoo. A press conference featuring the head coaches — Whitttingham and Northwestern’s Pat Fitzgerald — is set for Sunday morning.
