SALT LAKE CITY — “Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge” may not open until next year, but Disney just revealed you can meet a “Star Wars” villain at the park.
What’s going on: According to The Hollywood Reporter, guests will have a chance to meet Kylo Ren at the “Rise of the Resistance” attraction.
- Disney Imagineering creative executive Scott Trowbridge revealed Ren would appear after calling the theme park "the most epic attraction we’ve ever built.”
- "You make it through that, you make it back to the planet, you’re gonna be a hero of the resistance and celebrated throughout the planet," he said.
- Of course it won’t be Adam Driver, who plays Ren in the recent “Star Wars” films, who appears in Disneyland.
- “No, Adam Driver won’t be cloned and permanently installed in the planet’s most expensive two theme parks. It will presumably be some local kid trying to save for college, hiding behind a mask Ren destroyed in a fit of anger early on into ‘The Last Jedi,’” according to Uproxx.
Flashback: The reveal came as Disney released a new behind-the-scenes trailer for the new theme park, which will feature two attractions — “Rise of the Resistance” and “Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run.” You can read more about the new trailer from my report.
Open: “Galaxy’s Edge” will open in summer 2019 at Disneyland and in fall 2019 at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida.
