SARATOGA SPRINGS — A Saratoga Springs resident is under investigation for allegedly exchanging sexually explicit pictures with a 10-year-old boy he met online while playing video games, according to a newly unsealed search warrant.
As of Wednesday, it was unclear if the male resident had been arrested as the warrant only referred to the person as "offender" and Saratoga Springs police did not return a call placed by the Deseret News. It was also unclear if the offender is an adult or juvenile.Comment on this story
On Nov. 19, police in Kansas contacted Saratoga Springs police regarding a possible sex offense. A 10-year-old boy in Kansas had met the offender during online gaming about two to three weeks earlier, according to the warrant. The offender asked the boy to take nude photos of himself, the warrant states.
"Multiple pictures were sent back and forth between offender and victim throughout the above time period. Offender admitted to detectives under Miranda that multiple pictures were sent using Instagram, Facebook, gaming apps and other electronic means," according to the warrant.
The Saratoga Springs resident was being investigated for alleged dealing in harmful materials to the minor, the warrant states.
