According to the Red Cross, each year the humanitarian organization responds to about 64,000 disasters, the vast majority of which are home fires. In Utah alone, the Red Cross said that on average it responds to a home fire every three to four days.

According to the organization, a donation of $88.50 will provide a family of three with food, shelter and other essentials for one day; a donation of $60 can help provide six meals for disaster victims; and a donation of $30 can provide six blankets, ensuring victims stay warm and can get a good night's sleep.

To #help1family, visit redcross.org/givingday, or text REDCROSS to 90999 to give $10.
