SANDY — The Shops at South Town is seeking a local artist — or a team of artists — to create a 3,263-square-foot mural on the exterior of the mall’s State Street entrance wall.
The project, part of a comprehensive exterior upgrade, aims to celebrate the community and the mall’s location as a base camp to the Wasatch Mountains. Interested artists are invited to apply by Saturday, March 31.
“With this mural, we will replace a dull wall with positive and vibrant art … transforming it into a canvas with a distinctively ‘local’ feel,” said Najla Kayyem, senior vice president of marketing for Pacific Retail Capital Partners, which owns the mall. “It’s my hope that the South Town mural project will not only make a blank wall come to life, but also bring the community together.”2 comments on this story

According to Pacific Retail, four artists recently completed four outdoor murals spanning 20,000 square feet at its shopping center in San Jose, California. Due to its success, the company wanted to continue the initiative at its Sandy property.
