According to ABC News, the recent eruption sent ash 3 miles into the sky, blowing away parts of the mountain’s summit.

Indonesia's Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation said that the recent eruption left the peak “completely annihilated.”

No one was injured in the recent eruption.

However, Sinabung’s first eruption in 2014 led to more than a dozen deaths and thousands of evacuations, The Guardian reported.

According to ABC, Mount Sinabung is among the 120 active volcanoes in Indonesia, which sits among the highly active Pacific “Ring of Fire.”
