SALT LAKE CITY — A man involved in a crash last year that resulted in the death of one of his children has been charged.
Salah Abdalla Omar, 30, of Salt Lake City, was charged Friday in 3rd District Court with driving with measurable controlled substances and causing death, a third-degree felony; driving on a suspended license, a class C misdemeanor; and two infractions: failing to yield and failing to wear a seatbelt.Comment on this story
On June 22, Omar was driving a 2012 Ford Fusion and collided with a 1994 Acura Legend as the Fusion was pulling out of K&K African Market, 996 S. Redwood Road, according to charging documents. Omar pulled out onto Redwood Road, and then stopped in the middle of the road, the charges state.
Three children were in the Fusion, one of whom died from injuries sustained in the collision, the charges state.
Omar was driving on a suspended license and a blood draw tested positive for THC, according to the charges.
