FILE - The 700-foot Sand Mountain is the focal point of the 60,000-acre Little Sahara recreation area. The Bureau of Land Management’s Fillmore field office will reopen the Little Sahara Recreation Area Visitor Center on Sunday, just in time for those planning a visit during Presidents Day weekend.

FILLMORE — The Bureau of Land Management’s Fillmore field office will reopen the Little Sahara Recreation Area Visitor Center on Sunday, just in time for those planning a visit during Presidents Day weekend.

In addition, all four campgrounds will be open with access to vault toilets. The one-night permit fee is $18 per vehicle. This fee includes use of the area for two days and one night. Discounts are available for veterans and senior citizens.

Season passes are available at the Fillmore field office at 435-743-3100 and the Salt Lake field office at 801-977-4300.

Safety flags are required for all off-road and utility task vehicles. Flags will be available for sale at the visitor center.

Children under the age 8 are not allowed to operate any off-road vehicles on public lands, roads or trails in Utah. Children ages 8 to 15 may operate an off-road vehicle provided they have an education certificate issued by Utah State Parks and Recreations. Those 16 years or older may operate an off-road vehicle if they possess either a valid driver’s license or an approved education certificate.
