When firefighters arrived at 75 W. 2300 North at 8:21 p.m. Friday, just three minutes after receiving a 911 call about the fire, "heavy smoke and flames" were coming from the home's front windows, Becraft said.
Crews doused the blaze and discovered the woman had died inside, he said. Additional details about the woman's identity have not been released.
Investigators believe the house sustained $200,000 in damage. No neighboring homes caught fire, Becraft said.
Becraft's agency is investigating the fire with the help of the Utah state fire marshal and Sunset police, he said.
