KAYSVILLE — A Layton man was hit and killed Tuesday night while running across I-15, according to police.

Cody C. Ashment, 24, was running across the southbound lanes near the 200 North exit in Kaysville when he was struck by a vehicle at 10:13 p.m. and killed on impact, said Utah Highway Patrol Lt. Todd Royce.

Royce said the BMW that struck Ashment was occupied by a woman and her daughter.

Troopers were still investigating Wednesday why the man was on the freeway and why he attempted to run across the road.
