LAYTON — A Murray man, 51, has been charged with enticing what he thought was a 16-year-old girl for sex.

Instead, police say the man learned he had actually been talking to an undercover officer.

Kirt Leroy Andersen is charged in 2nd District Court with five counts of dealing in materials harmful to a minor, a third-degree felony; and enticing a minor using the internet, a class A misdemeanor.

On Jan. 23, an undercover police officer responded to an ad on Craigslist posing as a 16-year-old girl, according to a Davis County Jail report.

"Over the period of a week, Kirt sent me sexually explicit text messages stating that he wanted to have intercourse with me and stated several times that my age of 16 scared him because he didn't want to go to jail. Kirt still texted me and sent five sexually graphic in nature pictures," the report states.

On Jan. 30, Andersen got on a FrontRunner in Murray "where he was hoping to pick up the 16-year-old juvenile female," according to the charges, and "was arrested when he arrived in Farmington to meet the officer for sex."

His initial court appearance is scheduled for Wednesday.
