PROVO — Bike mechanics has traditionally been a male-dominated trade, but the Provo Bicycle Collective is hoping to change that.

The collective, 397 E. 200 North, is inviting women volunteers to join it 4-7 p.m. Mondays in a safe and inclusive space to learn to repair bicycles, which will then be given away to people who couldn’t otherwise afford one.

Last year, the collective says it refurbished 1,021 bikes and gave away 408 to children, refugees, homeless individuals and other people in need through its 15 community partners.
