SALT LAKE CITY — Residents are encouraged to drop by one of four open houses to provide input and learn more about potential dog parks in Salt Lake County.

In 2008, the county’s Parks and Recreation Division finalized a master plan for off-leash dog parks, identifying the need for such parks throughout the county.

Last fall, the division hosted open houses that presented detailed criteria for determining potential locations. After running all feasible sites through that process, the six most-qualified locations were identified. Those six sites are located at Welby Regional Park in South Jordan; Wardle Fields Regional Park in Bluffdale; Lodestone Regional Park in West Valley City; Granite Park in Sandy; Cougar Park in West Jordan; and at 6000 W. Harriman Parkway in Herriman.

Following this round of open houses, sites and concept plans will be developed for two or three, 5- to 10-acre dog parks.

The open houses will be held at the following times and locations:

• Tuesday, Feb. 6, 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m, Kearns Recreation Center, 5670 Cougar Lane, Kearns
