SALT LAKE CITY — Katherine Heigl isn’t done with television just yet.

The “Grey’s Anatomy” alum will join the show “Suits” as a series regular for season 8.

Heigl, who recently starred on the short-lived CBS legal drama “Doubt,” will play Samantha Wheeler, who is described as “a talented new partner at Pearson Specter Litt who challenges the status quo and will either become the firm’s greatest ally … or most powerful enemy,” according to a USA Network press release.

Heigl said in a statement that she's excited to join the cast.

“I have watched ‘Suits’ from the very beginning and feel incredibly lucky to be the newest member of the Pearson Specter Litt family,” she said in a statement, according to Entertainment Weekly.

Heigl will join the cast alongside Dule Hill (“Psych”), who starred on “Doubt” with Heigl before the show was canceled.

The “Suits” cast saw some major changes this week as show leads Patrick Adams and Meghan Markle announced their final dates on the show. According to USA Today, Markle, who will be marrying Britain’s Prince Harry on May 19, will make her final “Suits” appearance in the two-hour season finale on April 25.

Heigl, who owns a ranch in Utah, has won both an Emmy Award and two Golden Globe awards. She’s best known for her roles in “27 Dresses” and “Knocked Up.” She also grew up as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and said she and her family originally moved to Utah to escape the hubbub of the Hollywood life.

"We had big dreams of expanding our family, moving to the mountains and having a quieter life," she told Good Housekeeping in 2014. "Utah is spectacularly beautiful, the people are wonderful and kind, it's an easy commute from L.A. — and there's no traffic!"
