SANDY — The city is once again sponsoring an 11-week Police Citizen’s Academy designed to give residents firsthand experience of the responsibilities and duties of police officers.

The free class runs every Thursday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. from March 22 through May 31. There is one Saturday class on May 12 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Subjects that will be covered are general laws and procedures; crime scene investigation; death and traffic investigations, firearms, emergency vehicle operations, and defensive tactics and handcuffing.

Participants must be at least 18 years old and able to pass a criminal background check.
