PARK CITY — A 20-year-old skier was killed Monday when he hit a tree on an advanced trail.

The Salt Lake man, whose name was not released, was skiing about 1:45 p.m. at Park City Mountain Resort on the Canyons Village base side of the mountain when the incident occurred, according to the Summit County Sheriff's Office.

Dispatchers received multiple 911 calls about the same time, indicating that several people saw the downed skier, said Summit County Sheriff's Lt. Andrew Wright. It was not immediately known whether anyone witnessed the crash. Wright said the man was at the resort by himself.

Life-saving efforts were performed, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
