I loved Rep. Chris Stewart's comparison of President Donald Trump to Rodney Dangerfield's character in the movie "Caddyshack," as he praised Trump's accomplishments in his first year in office. But I was equally baffled to hear Stewart indicate that he is surprised Trump's approval rating is as low as it is.

Let me explain. Whether Republican, Democrat or Independent, voters tune out and turn off at the thought of President Trump, despite any perceived accomplishments. It is the bombastic, narcissistic Donald Trump himself that negates any increased approval from voters. Until he figures that out, I am certain his approval rating will continue to linger below 40 percent. Character still matters.
