FARMINGTON — The case against a Woods Cross High School baseball coach accused of showing pornographic images to three juveniles has been dismissed.

Trevor Amicone, 30, had faced three counts of dealing in harmful material to a minor by an adult, a third-degree felony. The charges were dismissed without prejudice Monday, meaning prosecutors retain the ability to file the case again, if they choose.

"As the Trevor Amicone case progressed and significant ongoing follow-up investigation and processing of newly acquired forensic evidence was done by both defense counsel and our office, it became clear that there was not a reasonable probability of conviction at trial," Davis County Attorney Troy Rawlings said Wednesday. "The information from approximately 40 witnesses, along with documents and electronic evidence, led our staff to that determination."

Ron Yengich, Amicone's attorney, declined to discuss any specifics about the allegations but said prosecutors made the right choice dismissing the charges.

"We believe that the evidence did not show he committed a crime, and after a thorough investigation from both the defense and the prosecution, they decided to dismiss it for that reason," Yengich said.

Amicone is happy with the outcome of the case and is ready to move on, Yengich said. The attorney does not believe his client is considering any civil litigation in the wake of the dismissal.

According to charges filed in 2nd District Court last February, three juveniles said Amicone had shown them images or recordings of a naked woman while they were still under the age of 18.
