The $5,000 college scholarship award is open to high school juniors and seniors, as well as full-time undergraduate students in Utah. One runner-up will receive a $3,000 college scholarship, while three runners-up will receive a $1,000 college scholarship. Five honorable mentions will receive a $500 college scholarship. Applications, which can be found online at youthlinc.org, are due Thursday, March 1.

“This award celebrates Utah students and the impact they have had in the community,” Youthlinc’s Shannon Moss said in a statement. “The Young Humanitarian Award gives applicants the chance to reflect on all the different ways they have made a difference in the lives of others around them. With this criteria, any young person who serves others is qualified to apply.”

Over the past 12 years, more than 1,000 students have applied for the award.
