PLEASANT GROVE — Search and rescue crews were looking Sunday night for a man and woman believed to be in their 20s who became lost while hiking in the Battle Creek Falls area Sunday afternoon.

The search for the pair continued after nightfall assisted by medical helicopters that were preparing to drop off rescuers as close as possible to the pair to assess their conditions, provide them food, water and care and help them off the mountain.

"They have lost their way. They're getting a little cold. They may be experiencing a little hypothermia or maybe a little frostbite," said Sgt. Spencer Cannon of the Utah County Sheriff's Office

Cannon said the hikers had some supplies but likely were not prepared to spend the night in sub-freezing temperatures.
