The decision by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) last month to repeal net neutrality protections and allow internet service providers to control access to the sites we visit not only hurts small businesses but also takes away our constitutional right to free speech. Giving big corporations like Comcast and Verizon this kind of power is like closing libraries and forcing us to obtain all of our information from Amazon and Walmart. What is happening to open access to information in America?10 comments on this story
Republicans, Democrats and independents all overwhelmingly support keeping net neutrality protections in place. The Congressional Review Act allows Congress to reverse the FCC's decision. Currently, this legislation is being proposed in both the House and Senate. I hope that the elected officials we have placed in Washington listen to their constituents, sign on to this legislation, vote to keep net neutrality protections and stand up for our constitutional rights.
