President Russell M. Nelson is now the 17th president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

The church also named President Dallin H. Oaks as first counselor and President Henry B. Eyring as second counselor in the First Presidency, according to the Deseret News.

Meanwhile, President M. Russell Ballard is the acting president of the Quorum of the Twelve for the LDS Church.

Twitter celebrated the announcement early Tuesday morning.

The phrases “President Nelson,” “President Russell M. Nelson” and “LDS Church” were ranked among the top trends in Salt Lake City on Tuesday.

The phrase “Russell M. Nelson” was the eighth top trend in the United States, too.

Sen. Orrin Hatch tweeted about President Nelson.

Speaker Greg Hughes also released a statement celebrating the new LDS Church president.

People also honored President Dieter F. Uchtdorf, who was the second counselor to President Thomas S. Monson.
