PANGUITCH — Police have arrested a Panguitch man after his elderly mother was found dead in the coal bin of the home they shared.Comment on this story
The 90-year-old woman's body was found Wednesday after Pete Marker, 66, sent a letter to his niece saying her grandmother had passed away on Christmas Day and "he had taken care of the body," said Denise Dastrup, public information officer for the Garfield County Sheriff's Office.
The body was found buried in a coal bin inside the house, Dastrup said. Marker lived with his mother and had been taking care of her.
Marker was booked into the Garfield County Jail for investigation of failure to report finding a dead body. Bail is set at $680.
The name of the woman has not been released.
State court records show Marker has no criminal history in Utah.
