SOUTH JORDAN — The city’s Youth Council is inviting students to apply for the opportunity to be a council member.

Applications are available online at sjc.utah.gov/pdf/youthcouncil-application-form.pdf.

Applications must be submitted by Saturday, March 17, and applicants will be contacted for an interview.

Applicants must be South Jordan residents entering ninth through 12th grades and be interested in learning how government works. Council members are expected to commit to six to seven hours per month for youth council meetings and service projects.

In addition, the council also assists with city-sponsored activities such as SoJo Summerfest, the SoJo Marathon, holiday activities, the farmers market, park projects, and the Easter Egg and Candy Scramble.

Hourlong council meetings are held twice a month, typically at 7 p.m. on Thursdays, at the South Jordan Community Center, 10788 S. Redwood Road.
