Saxton Dean Colby Hesleph, 33, was arrested for investigation of attempted murder and five counts of discharge of a firearm.

On Oct. 30, a man was standing in the doorway of a residence at 8284 W. 3500 South when Hesleph started shooting at him, according to a Salt Lake County Jail report.

"The victim jumped back into his house, knocking his child over to prevent from getting shot," the report states.

Detectives from the Metro Gang Unit conducting surveillance on Hesleph's residence, not far from where the shooting occurred, spotted him on Wednesday and arrested him without incident, according to the report.
