WEST JORDAN — In an effort to help residents adopt healthier habits during the new year, the city is sponsoring a Way to a Better Life contest.

The contest, which is limited to the first 150 entrants, will kick off with an initial weigh-in and assessment on Jan. 18 between 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. at the Gene Fullmer Recreation Center, 8015 S. 2200 West.

The entry fee, which is $40 per person, will include cholesterol screenings, glucose and blood pressure testing, body mass index evaluation, a body composition analysis, waist circumference measurements, and nutrition and exercise challenges.

Each contestant must weigh-in weekly on Thursdays through April 19, when a final weigh-in and post-assessment will be held.

Contestants who have paid their fee, complied with all rules and have not missed more than five weigh-ins are eligible to win prizes. The winners will be announced on April 26.
