In 2017, the Deseret News tracked 80 homicides that occurred in Utah, including a disturbing number of children and young adults. Equally disturbing is the number of children and young adults who are accused of committing those killings.

The victims of homicide — the killing of one human being at the hands of another — in Utah in 2017 ranged in age from just 13 days to 85 years. More than two-thirds of them were shot to death.

Following is a look at the circumstances surrounding each of the homicide victims killed in Utah during the year.
