Where's the best place to live if you want to keep your New Year's resolutions?

A new report from WalletHub ranked Salt Lake City among the top five cities nationwide for helping residents stick to their goals for 2018.

WalletHub ranked each city by taking the most commonly kept and broken resolutions and compared them to each city's level of conduciveness to helping people achieve those goals. WalletHub reviewed 52 metrics — including gyms per capita for health resolutions or income growth for financial resolutions — to determine its findings.

Salt Lake City ranked behind Scottsdale, Arizona; San Diego; San Francisco; and Seattle.

Salt Lake City topped San Jose, California; Irvine, California; Austin, Texas; Portland, Oregon; and Orlando, within the top 10.

West Valley City made the list, ranking at the 62nd spot, just ahead of Anaheim, California. But West Valley City tied for second in the lowest percentage of adult smokers category. The Utah city ranked No. 180 out of 182 in the cities with the fewest restaurants per capita.

Earlier this month, travel information website Expedia ranked Salt Lake City as one of the top 10 in-demand cities for New Year’s Eve celebrations, according to the Deseret News.

Expedia praised Salt Lake City for its family-friendly atmosphere.

“It’s no secret that Salt Lake City is an active, exciting city when Mr. Frost comes to stay. It’s the perfect place to embrace the outdoor adventures only winter can provide, and it’s also a fabulous hub of NYE festivities,” according to Expedia.

The rankings were “based on air ticket demands and a poll of the most popular and affordable New Year’s Eve airfare for the upcoming holiday season."
