SALT LAKE CITY — Mark Huntsman, CEO of an engineering firm with offices in four Western states and a member of the Millard School District Board of Education for eight years, has been re-elected to a one-year term as chairman of the Utah State Board of Education.
Huntsman, who lives in Fillmore, was elected to the State School Board in 2014. He is joined by Brittney Cummins and Alisa Ellis as first and second vice chairwomen, respectively. Their leadership terms begin in 2018.
“I will strive to continue to be fair and reasonable as I represent the Utah State Board of Education as chair,” said Huntsman, who represents District 14 on the 15-member board.
Brittney Cummins, of West Valley City, will also serve a second term in board leadership. She was first elected to the State School Board in 2014 and represents District 6, a section of west-central Salt Lake County. She is a licensed educator and heads a local charter governing board.
Alisa Ellis, of Heber City, will also serve as a vice chairwoman for a second term. Ellis represents District 12, which includes parts of Utah, Summit, Wasatch, Duchesne, Daggett and Uintah counties. She was elected to the State School Board in 2016.
