Mayor Terry Palmer and the City Council have appointed Aaron Byington as the new fire chief, following the retirement of Eric Froerer.

SYRACUSE — Mayor Terry Palmer and the City Council have appointed Aaron Byington as the new fire chief, following the retirement of Eric Froerer.

Byington, who has lived in Syracuse since 2003, received his master’s in management and leadership in 2012 from Webster University in Missouri, his bachelor’s in public emergency services management in 2009 from Utah Valley University and certified as a paramedic through Weber State University in 2005.

He most recently served as battalion chief, paramedic and training officer in the Layton Fire Department.

Byington also teaches as an adjunct faculty at UVU and Davis Technology College.
