SANDY — A woman struck by a car in a crosswalk near the South Towne Expo Center Thursday evening has died from her injuries, according to Sandy police.

The woman was identified as Stephanie Burton, 46. Two other adults who were also struck in the crosswalk at 50 E. 9400 South have been released from the hospital and are recovering from their injuries, police said Saturday.

The accident remains under investigation.

The three adults were en route to the Festival of Trees when they were hit and critically injured in a crosswalk about 7 p.m. Thursday.

A 17-year-old boy driving a car west on 9400 South failed to stop at the crossing signal's red light, according to Sandy police. Witnesses told officers the light had turned green for the pedestrians to cross near 800 East, officers said.

The pedestrians, who range in age from 40s to early 60s, were transported to Intermountain Medical Center in critical condition. The driver was evaluated for minor injuries.
