HIGHLAND — The Lone Peak Public Safety Board has appointed Reed Thompson to be the new chief of the Lone Peak Fire District beginning Friday, Dec. 29.Comment on this story
Thompson, who grew up in Highland, has been in the fire service for nearly 20 years, including 12 years in American Fork and 10 in South Jordan. For the past 18 months he has served as the deputy chief in South Jordan.
Thompson obtained his bachelor’s degree in public emergency services management from Utah Valley University and a master’s in public administration from Brigham Young University.
The district serves the communities of Highland, Alpine and Cedar Hills. It totals almost 40,000 residents and nearly 19 square miles.
