Comment on this story

Hailey Buh, 27, was a passenger in a Toyota Highlander heading north on I-15 near Fillmore when it began to slip left on a right curve, likely due to icy road conditions, according to the Utah Highway Patrol. The 33-year-old male driver overcorrected, causing the vehicle to leave the road and hit the adjacent hillside just after 4 a.m.

The accident report states Buh's head hit some rocks on the embankment after she was partially ejected from the SUV. She was wearing a seat belt, but it was not fastened properly, according to the UHP.

Buh was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver received minor injuries and was taken to the Fillmore Community Hospital for treatment.

Icy road conditions are being investigated as a possible contributor to the crash.
