WEST VALLEY CITY — A man wanted in connection with a shooting at a West Valley hotel has been arrested.
Robert Bradley Young, 45, was arrested for investigation of attempted murder, felony discharge of a firearm, possession of a firearm by a restricted person and obstruction of justice.
Early Tuesday, a man, whose name and age were not immediately released, went to the lobby of La Quinta Inn, 3540 S. 2200 West, to say he had been shot, according to police. The man was taken by emergency crews to a local hospital in critical condition.Comment on this story
Investigators learned that Young, another unidentified man and the victim entered the hotel and went to the victim's room. The victim told police, "Robert was pointing a handgun at his head while threatening to kill him, which caused (the victim) to fear for his life," according to a Salt Lake County Jail report.
When the victim "moved," Young shot him in the chest, the report states. A motive for the shooting was not given, nor how the gunman and victim may have been previously associated with each other.
Court records show Young has an extensive criminal history involving mainly drug-related crimes.
