SALT LAKE CITY — Larry H. Miller Sports & Entertainment will donate more than 1,200 winter coats to students at 19 local elementary, middle and high schools as part of the NBA Cares Season of Giving.
Now in its fifth year, Coats for Kids is hosted on behalf of the organization’s sports and entertainment units and corporate partners in conjunction with the United Way of Salt Lake. More than 5,000 winter coats have been donated to those in need since the program’s inception.Comment on this story
This year’s recipient schools are Copperview Elementary, David Gourley Elementary, East Midvale Elementary, Guadalupe School, Lincoln Elementary, Midvale Elementary, Moss Elementary, Oquirrh Hill Elementary, Roosevelt Elementary, Sandy Elementary, South Kearns Elementary, West Kearns Elementary, Woodrow Wilson Elementary, Granite Park Junior High, Kearns Junior High, Midvale Middle, Cottonwood High, Hillcrest High and Kearns High.
“Our organization is proud to continue the tradition of purchasing coats for underprivileged youth through our Coats for Kids program,” Steve Starks, president of the Utah Jazz and Larry H. Miller Sports & Entertainment, said in a statement. “As the weather turns colder, we know there is a real need for winter jackets in the community, and we hope this donation will help these young people as they go to school each day.”
