NORTH SALT LAKE — A fire in a shed set two neighboring houses ablaze Sunday.
Crews arrived at the homes at 877 and 883 Cambridge Drive just before 5 p.m. to find the backs of both houses on fire, South Davis Metro Fire Chief Jeff Bassett said.
The residents of both homes had gotten out safely before firefighters arrived.
"It took about 30 firefighters and about an hour to gain control of that fire," Bassett said. "We're lucky tonight there are no injuries."Comment on this story
The cause of the fire, which appears to have begun in a shed, remains under investigation, according to a Twitter account for North Salt Lake. An estimate of damages was unavailable Sunday.
"We had one house start on fire, and the amount of that fire started the house to the west of it on fire," Bassett said, noting how close together the homes are.
The families from both homes were displaced by the blaze.
Meanwhile, the houses on either side of the two burned homes also sustained heat damage to their siding, Bassett said. The families in both of those houses were allowed to stay in their homes.
