The Senate Business and Labor Committee unanimously approved Sophia DiCaro to serve on the seven-member panel that sets alcohol policy and issues, and suspends liquor licenses in the state.

Gov. Gary Herbert nominated DiCaro, a West Valley Republican who served one term in the House, to fill the vacancy. DiCaro must still be approved by the full Senate.

DiCaro is the chief compliance officer at the Cynosure Group, an investment advisory firm. She has served under four governors in various capacities in the Governor's Office of Planning and Budget and the Governor's Office of Economic Development.
