CLEARFIELD — The investigation into a 20-year-old karate instructor charged with rape and accused of having a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old girl who was one of his students isn't over, according to Clearfield police.
According to a search warrant affidavit unsealed in 2nd District Court Tuesday, police are investigating whether the relationship between Damian Tyler Fullmer, of Clearfield, and the young girl continued even after he was arrested in April. Clearfield police on Tuesday could only confirm that their investigation was still active and additional charges were possible, but declined to go into detail due to an active investigation.
Fullmer was charged last week in 2nd District Court with two counts of rape, a first-degree felony; two counts of forcible sodomy, a first-degree felony; and eight counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, a second-degree felony.
The 14-year-old told police that beginning about September 2016, "she began to sneak out of her residence and started having sexual intercourse" with her 'sensei,'" according to charging documents. This continued until April, the charges state, when Fullmer was arrested. Fullmer was 19 when the two first met.
Investigators found 157 pictures of the girl on Fullmer's phone, including 43 that contained nudity and five of the two engaged in sexual activity, the charges state. Fullmer was fired from his karate instructor job in April.1 comment on this story
On Oct. 16, the girl's stepmother contacted police again stating she had found evidence that the girl had secretly been using a "burner phone." Her suspicion was raised when she found an email stating "that she needed to put more money on the account for more minutes," according to the warrant.
An entry in the girl's diary from July also stated that, "I can't wait for the emancipation one more year baby. We have to be safe for one more year," the warrant states. The entry is believed to be about Fullmer.
