The stakeout forced the closure of two blocks of 1300 West for several hours.

No injuries were reported when Ainslie was apprehended, Unified police reported. He is accused of threatening a clerk at the Shopko store at 5800 S. Redwood Road Monday morning.

He had not been booked into Salt Lake County Jail as of Monday afternoon.

A warrant was issued for Ainslie's arrest in July. He is accused of violating the terms of his probation for a DUI case from 2013.

He has a history of shoplifting and theft in Davis, Salt Lake and Utah counties, state court records show.
