SALT LAKE CITY — Since every major holiday has at least one emoji to represent it, the experts at the Butterball Turkey Talk-Line think it’s high time to get an official Thanksgiving turkey emoji.

So they’re rallying support, via petition at Change.org, and asking consumers for help — to sign it, share it and make a difference in texting conversations everywhere.

“We at the Butterball Turkey Talk-Line — the people who talk (and text) about turkey more than anyone — know the Thanksgiving turkey is the ultimate symbol of celebration,” Sue Smith, talk-line director, said in a statement.

“After all, Thanksgiving is the most celebrated holiday in the U.S. Adding a delicious roasted turkey to the roster of emojis is the perfect way to show thanks for our favorite main course and the holiday it represents.”

According the statement, Butterball’s Turkey Talk-Line experts answer countless urgent questions about turkey trials and tribulations. And when Butterball launched its 24/7 texting help line last Thanksgiving, experts texted the words and phrases including “turkey” and “frozen turkey” more than 5,000 times.

With the public’s support, the talk-line experts hope to make their texting even more seamless this Thanksgiving, and for Thanksgivings to come.

And when it comes time to cook that Thanksgiving turkey, cooks can text their questions to 844-877-3456, or they can call 1-800-BUTTERBALL. Experts will be on hand to answer questions through Christmas Eve. Help is also available through the Butterball Facebook and Twitter pages.
