Robin William "RJ" Lundin, 28, was arrested Sunday, Nov. 5, 2017, for investigation of murder. Lundin shot and killed a man who attacked him with a razor blade, according to police.

WEST POINT — A West Point man was being held without bail in the Davis County Jail Monday for investigation of murder.

Robin William "RJ" Lundin, 28, was arrested Sunday morning and was being held in the medical unit, according to jail records. In his mug shot, Lundin has obvious facial injuries, including a black eye and what appears to be a large cut over the same eye.

Davis County sheriff's deputies were called to a report of a shooting early Sunday at 3275 W. 438 North. When investigators arrived, they discovered that Colby Scott Barney, 30, had been shot in the chest and was dead in the basement, according to a Davis County Jail report.

Barney was from the Salt Lake area, according to the sheriff's office.

Barney had been invited to Lundin's house, according to investigators. But witnesses told detectives that at some point, Lundin and Barney got into an altercation and "Lundin suffered lacerations to his face from a razor blade" held by Barney, the report states. Lundin received 28 stitches, according to police.

After Lundin was cut, Barney began "surrendering" and put the razor away and held his hands out, the report states. Lundin then went into his bedroom and returned with a .9 mm handgun. He fired twice, striking Barney and injuring the hand of a witness, the report states.

The condition of the witness was not immediately known. A 1-year-old child was also in the house at the time of the shooting, the report states.

Lundin "admitted to drinking heavily during the incident," police wrote.

Lundin's criminal history consists mainly of DUI, intoxication offenses and numerous traffic violations, according to court records.
