LAYTON — Police are searching for a 31-year-old Layton man who they allege shot an acquaintance multiple times in the chest before leading police on a chase that ended in Salt Lake City.
Officers believe Eddie Angelo Samora, 31, and the victim, whose name has not been released, had gotten into some type of argument about 12:40 p.m. Thursday, said Layton Police Lt. Travis Lyman.
Police said Samora should be considered possibly armed and dangerous.Comment on this story
The 32-year-old man was shot multiple times in the chest on the sidewalk outside an apartment complex at 1567 N. Avalon Drive. A medical helicopter flew him to University Hospital. Lyman said he was having surgery Thursday, but further details about his condition weren't immediately available.
Lyman said police believe the gunman drove away in a dark-colored SUV. Detectives were trying to determine if he was alone or if there were others in the car.
Officers in Centerville later spotted an SUV matching the description on I-15, Centerville Police Sgt. Von Steenblik said. A chase ensued, ending near 900 West and 300 North in Salt Lake City.
