SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah chapter of the Sierra Club has named Ashley Soltysiak as its new director.Comment on this story
Soltysiak comes to the chapter from Healthy Environment Alliance of Utah, where she worked as policy director. With HEAL Utah, Soltysiak directed clean air campaigns, lobbied lawmakers and regulators, and advocated for better air quality through outreach to the public and the media.
Soltysiak holds a bachelor’s in environmental biology and zoology and a master's in public administration in environmental policy.
The Utah chapter of the Sierra Club, which works on multiple environmental and conservation fronts, is a grass-roots organization. In contrast with most other environmental groups, most of the chapter’s work is done by volunteers, supported by a small number of paid staff.
