SALT LAKE CITY — Salt Lake police were looking Monday for a man involved in a home invasion robbery.

About 9:30 a.m., a man knocked on a door in the 1800 South block of Foothill Drive, said Salt Lake Police Sgt. Brandon Shearer. When an older woman answered, the man, who had a weapon, forced his way inside.

While threatening the woman and holding her at bay, the man rummaged through her house, eventually stealing at least two guns and other undisclosed items, he said.

The man left the house after taking the woman's keys and her gray 2007 Honda Pilot SUV with Utah license plate 992-PJE, Shearer said.

It was not immediately known whether the victim's house was chosen at random or specifically targeted.

"She did not know the suspect. It was unclear if the suspect was familiar with other people who lived in the home,” Shearer said.

The woman was the only person home at the time. But she lives with her husband and there are other "kids" who are known to frequent the house, though Shearer said he did not know if they lived there or just visited.

Anyone with information on the man or the stolen vehicle can call police at 801-799-3000.
