Americans are projected to spend $9.1 billion on Halloween this year, according to the National Retail Federation. Many people go all out with their yard decorations. The Rocky Mountain Haunters are a group that seeks to alert viewers to elaborate Halloween yard displays and light shows in the Utah area. Visit their Google Maps page for a list of haunted home attractions in Utah this Halloween. Be careful, as there are some attractions that are listed out of state.

Compiled here is a list of over-the-top Halloween displays found along the Wasatch Front, with information taken from UtahHauntedHouses.com.

Bates Haunt

About the display: Bates Haunt advertises that it has won multiple national awards, including the nation's best yard haunt. There are giant singing pumpkins that sing original songs. Dancing skeletons and flying ghosts join in the show.

Location: 1233 W. Morning Oaks Drive, Taylorsville, Utah

Operating hours: Show goes from 7:30-10 p.m. The show takes place Oct. 27-28 and Oct. 30-31. It is recommended that visitors check the Facebook page before going to confirm that the show will take place.

Canyon Road Haunt

About the display: This drive-through display is mostly static, but some of the decorations move about. Tune the radio to 99.9 FM for Halloween-themed sounds. Canyon Road Haunt does a food drive through all of October, collecting nonperishable food items in addition to baby diapers, wipes and formula. All donations go to Tabitha's Way in American Fork.

Location: 4416 N. Canyon Road, Pleasant Grove, Utah

Operating hours: Lights go on around 6-6:30 p.m. Runs through all of October.

Christensen Haunted Hollows

About the display: Oct. 27-31 is when the display is at its best. It features animated and static props and also boasts fog machines and flames on Halloween night.

Location: 4142 W. Red Tail Drive, Riverton, Utah

Operating hours: The lights run from dusk to 10 p.m. every night through Halloween.

Cinnamon Grove Cemetery

About the display: This display is inspired by "A Nightmare Before Christmas." However, it also has an Itsy Bitsy Spiders Den with a "Jurassic Dark"-themed attraction. The week leading up to Halloween contains fog machines and photo booths as well.

Location: 402 Cinnamon Circle, Saratoga Springs, Utah

Operating hours: Lights run until 10 p.m. Monday-Thursday and until 11 p.m. Friday-Sunday.

Crimson Crypt

About the display: Crimson Crypt is a graveyard display with skeletons, animatronics and lighting, complete with a sound system. On Halloween night, the display is upgraded with multiple projections and fog enhancements. According to Rocky Mountain Haunters, the haunt will also feature "a lot of fire" on Halloween night.

Operating hours: Show goes until 10:30 p.m. every day. Runs through Oct. 31.

Granville Graveyard

About the display: Granville Graveyard is a Halloween light show complete with fog machines in a graveyard setting. Tune the radio to 99.9 FM to hear the music accompanying the show.

Operating hours: 7-10 p.m. every night until Halloween.

Halloween Town

About the display: This show has Jack, Oogie Boogie, Santa and other characters from the popular Halloween show "A Nightmare Before Christmas." This display also contains singing pumpkins and photo opportunities with your favorite characters.

Location: 536 Evesham Drive, Murray, Utah

Operating hours: Lights go on nightly until 10:30 p.m. Runs until Oct. 31.

Haunted Halloween Lair

About the display: This walk-through display is "appropriate for all ages," according to Haunted Halloween Lair's website. It incorporates the latest projection effects as well as animatronics. Trick-or-treaters can also stop by for a treat.

Location: 1641 S. Oak View Lane, Spanish Fork, Utah

Operating hours: Every night in October from 7:30-10 p.m.

Haunted Haven

About the display: There is a light show every night. On the weekends, there is a video projection and light show, excluding Sundays. Halloween features a walk-through that is only available that night.

House of Terror

About the display: Every night before Halloween there is a yard display with animatronics. On Halloween, the display turns interactive with volunteer haunters and a lot of candy.

Lit Up Halloween

About the display: Tune the radio to 107.7 and experience the light and music show.

About the display: Obsidian Cemetery is a colorful, lit-up home. Starting Oct. 28, they bring out the big animatronics such as a 5-foot talking tomb and a "Talking Smoldering Reaper."
